Isabella Rodriguez
To describe Isabella Rodriguez as a 'star on the rise' would be an understatement. Instead, she's a comet crashing through the Swedish comedy scene leaving a trail of laughter in her wake.
Her work for film and TV has put her firmly in the limelight of the Swedish industry. Isabella has been behind comedy series such as 'Bauta', 'Kurs i självutplåning' and 'Drugdealer’. She directed ’Tabita’s Tattoo” for TV4, described as ”heartwrenching entertainment” and was one of the writers behind the hit comedy series ’Populära problem’, nominated for a Kristallen award for best comedy series of the year. More productions TBA.
Her films as a producer have been shown and awarded, at prestigious festivals across the world (Rotterdam, SXSW, Clermont Ferrand, BFI etc) and in 2024 she was nominated for a Guldbagge award in the category best film of the year.
Isabella is drawn to comedy from the perspective of 'the outsiders', something to which she is able to apply her sharp comedic wit and timing. As she explains, 'I enjoy twisting norms finding an everyday life in pointed and dramatic situations as well as finding errors and a disrupted flow in situations that are usually portrayed as smooth, cool or very dramatic.” She also loves a bit of cringe and weird vibes, but all with a warm heart.
